Get set for the Boston Marathon 2015

The annual marathon organized by the Boston Athletic Association (BAA), has always been a big draw. In spite of the bomb blast in 2013 and the negative publicity surrounding the event, the turnout at the 2014 Boston Marathon has proven that nothing can cripple the spirit of the city’s residents.

The upcoming Boston Marathon 2015 marathon will mark the 119th year of the prestigious BAA event which is expected to be held on 20th April, 2015. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts also celebrates The Patriot’s Day on this day.

The first week of registrations for the Boston Marathon 2015 has concluded, and registrations are now open for all qualifiers from today, 15th September, onwards.

The first round of registrations

The registrations for Boston Marathon 2015 began on 8th September. The BAA used the same process that they have been using for registration of qualified runners. The fastest runners in their age and gender group were given the first chance to register for the event. The entire process of registrations was done online via the BAA website.

The qualification

The qualification process for the 2015 Boston Marathon began in September 2013. Athletes were expected to meet a specific time and speed requirement based on their age and gender to qualify for the main event. Registration for the event was then done on first-come-first-serve basis for all those who qualified.

Selection and registration

The selection and registration process for the marathon began on 8th September  and will go on for some more time. The first round of registrations was for runners who had met the qualifying standard by at least 20 minutes or more.

The second round of registrations was opened on 10th September and was for athletes who had met the qualifying standard by 10 minutes or more. The third round was opened on 12th September and was for athletes who met the qualifying standard by at least 5 minutes. The first week of registrations concluded on 13th September.

The fresh round of registrations opens today, will close on the on 17th September and is for all runners who have qualified. If there are slots available after this round of registrations, another round will be opened on 22nd September for all qualified runners.
